Mafia is a small, quiet island and getting around is easy once you know the options.

Cars and taxis

Private cars with drivers are the most comfortable way to travel between Kilindoni, the airstrip and Utende. Book in advance for airport pickups.

Bajaji (tuk-tuk)

Bajaji are cheap and handy for short trips around Kilindoni.

Boda (motorbike taxi)

Fast for solo travellers on short trips. Always ask for a helmet.

Boats

Boats are the only way to reach Chole, Juani, Jibondo and the sandbanks. Most leave from Utende.
